Q. Who is eligible for Friends of Santa Claus?
A. Any child in western NC or the upstate of SC who has been diagnosed with cancer. Children and their families are welcome to be in our program from the time of diagnosis until 5 years after their last treatment date. If families lose a child to cancer, their siblings are welcome to participate for 2 years past that time.

Q. Do families in the Friends of Santa Claus organization pay any fees?
A. No. All of the activities provided by the Friends of Santa Claus are free to our families.

Q. How many children does Friends of Santa Claus serve?
A. As of January 1, 2023, this year there are 106 children involved in our program. This number includes patients and their siblings. 

Q. What kind of activities does Friends of Santa Claus sponsor?
A. Each year, Friends of Santa Clause hosts Camp MerryTimes, family fun days, a Fall 5k race, hospital camp throughout the year, and a Christmas party. We also grant special wishes and have a scholarship opportunity for patients.

Q. What is Camp MerryTimes?
A. Camp MerryTimes is our summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings. The ages range from 5 to 17 years old. The camp is supported by physicians and oncology nurses who are on the premise around-the-clock to provide medical care. Scores of activities and events are planned to provide a chance for these kids to be “wonderfully ordinary” and experience the magic of childhood at camp.

A. Yes. We are a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status. Please consider donating today!

Q. If I donate, what will my contribution support?

A. All donations support programs, events, and development of the organization.

Q. Does our organization have any paid administrative staff?
A. No. Friends of Santa Clause is 100% volunteer run.

Q. How is Friends of Santa Claus funded?
A. All funding comes from donations made by individuals, corporations, and foundations. We also have a gourmet dinner and auction, along with a golf tournament. The rest of our income relies on the generosity of people wanting to make a difference in the lives of these children.
